What are filter starter bacteria?
Filterstart products contain specialized bacteria (nitrifying bacteria and other microorganisms) that attach themselves to the filter material, walls, and bottom of the pond. If present, turn off the UVC lamp for 24-48 hours after adding the product to allow the bacteria to adhere properly and not be killed immediately by the radiation. Distribute the bacteria over the filter media or pour them directly into the filter so they can adhere to the substrate.
