Oxygen-rich water is essential for a healthy pond environment and healthy fish. To keep the pond ice-free in winter and well-aerated in summer, a floating device, such as a discus, with a bubble path underneath, is the most effective solution. The bubble path ensures a constant water flow past the floating device, keeping the water surface open during frosty conditions.
Winter: Fish mortality often occurs when garden ponds freeze over. Especially in small and shallow ponds, there is a high risk of suffocation after freezing. Aeration primarily provides oxygen, but it also prevents the pond from freezing over completely.
Summer: As water temperatures rise, oxygen deficiency often occurs. When fish surface to gulp air, this indicates a lack of oxygen in the water. Aeration of the water can then provide a solution.
This pump comes with a discus float, 10 metres of air hose, an aeration stone and a replacement diaphragm.
