Duo GH/KH Plus increases the GH and KH values of pond water by adding minerals. This results in a stable pond environment and promotes the growth of aquatic plants. If the water hardness is too low, it can slow plant growth and cause water acidification. To prevent this, it is important to regularly check the water parameters and adjust them accordingly. Ideally, a GH value between 8° and 12°DH and a KH value between 6° and 8°DH is ideal. This ensures that microorganisms and oxygen-producing plants, such as waterweed, hornwort, and pondweed, can develop well.
The GH value, expressed in German degrees of hardness, indicates the total hardness of the water and is formed by calcium and magnesium sulfates. The KH value, also expressed in German degrees of hardness, indicates the carbonate hardness of the water and is also called the acid-binding capacity. Carbonate is formed by the binding of free carbon dioxide (CO2) to calcium and magnesium.
One 1000 ml package is sufficient to treat 10,000 litres of pond water.
