A lack of CO2 (carbon dioxide) in pond water is almost always the cause of stagnant growth in oxygen-producing plants such as waterweed, hornwort, and pondweed. CO2 is an important nutrient for these plants. In well-maintained ponds, sufficient CO2 is produced by microorganisms, but in new ponds or ponds where microorganism development is suboptimal, CO2 levels can be low, leading to stagnant plant growth. If stagnant growth is due to a lack of carbon dioxide, Velda CO2 Tabs offer a solution. These tablets release CO2 into the water, reactivating plant growth.
Use one tablet per 500 liters of pond water and repeat the dose weekly for at least three weeks. The tablets release CO2 into the water in an effervescent manner. One package is sufficient to treat 4000 liters of pond water with CO2 for three weeks (or multiple doses for smaller ponds).
Using CO2 Tabs is environmentally friendly and, in the prescribed dosage, poses no risk to fish, plants, pets, birds, insects, or microorganisms. The water composition is not altered, but the pH value may temporarily drop slightly. Therefore, it is important to regularly test the pond water so that any pH problems can be detected promptly. To promote microbial life in the pond environment and ensure the natural CO2 supply, the use of substrate and Bacterial is recommended.
