Floating algae can cause pond water to turn green, especially in newly formed ponds with nutrient-rich water. This leads to stagnant growth of oxygen-producing plants, which is very unpleasant. Fortunately, there is a permanent solution for green and cloudy pond water: the UV-C filter. This filter kills many harmful organisms, including algae, using UV-C light. The UV-C portion of the light spectrum damages the DNA of microorganisms, preventing them from multiplying. The filter works by passing the pond water past a lamp that emits ultraviolet light. This essentially sterilizes the water and kills floating algae, germs, and fungi. This ensures crystal-clear water and a healthy pond environment for fish and plants. It is recommended to leave the UV-C filter running continuously during the pond season. In winter, due to the risk of freezing, the device should be removed from the pond and stored in a dry, frost-free place.
