What's a pond like without fish and/or plants? Everyone wants beautiful, clear pond water , so we'll give you some tips. It's also time to take a good look at your (possibly new) fish.
Why clear pond water?
Besides being able to clearly see your fish, plants, and other ornaments, a clear water surface is also important for maintaining oxygen and CO2 levels in your pond. Clear pond water is essential for oxygen absorption and the exchange of excess CO2. Removing surface debris is essential to keep the pond nice and clear.
Surface filters / Skimmers
A handy device for removing surface debris is a surface filter, also called a skimmer. This filters the surface of your pond, giving you clear, clean water! Leaves, pollen, and other nutrients, especially for algae, are collected in a collection basket. Of course, this basket must be emptied regularly. Check out our skimmer section for our selection.
Clear pond water requires healthy pond fish
The fish can be fed generously again during this period! Make sure all the fish food is eaten, otherwise you'll overfeed. It's better to feed small portions frequently than too much at once. You can also introduce new fish into your pond during this period. Place these new fish in a quarantine tank before introducing them, so they can acclimate to the new water. There's nothing more satisfying than introducing new fish to the pond, but it would be a shame if they died quickly afterward!
With new fish in a clear pond, you can enjoy your time there again!
