The most important function of a good water pump is to promote water circulation. If the pond water is stagnant and contains many fish, plants, and other animals, there's a risk of waste buildup. What you always want to avoid is excess ammonia and methane, gases released during decomposition. A pond pump moves the water, so these gases come into contact with the outside air and are removed. An advantage of this is that your pond water can then also absorb oxygen and carbon dioxide, which your pond inhabitants desperately need.
Depending on the size and depth of your pond, you can order your pond pump based on several specifications. The pump capacity, the number of liters of water your pump can handle per hour, is important. Also, be sure to check the delivery head in our webshop, which you can find in the description of each pump. This indicates the maximum height at which the pond pump can still deliver its output. A pond pump can be installed both in and outside the water (below the water level). All pond pumps are suitable for underwater operation. It's often best to install your pump on dry land, but if you do install it in water, do so at the deepest point so all the water can circulate. Be sure to place the pump slightly off the bottom to prevent the entire pond from emptying in the event of a hose break.
