Fountain filter

A flow-through filter is a complete pond filter for a garden pond with or without fish. This filter is placed above the water surface, and a pond pump pumps the water from the pond to the flow-through filter, where it is filtered before flowing back into the pond. Thanks to its simplicity, easy installation, and relatively low price, a flow-through filter is one of the most popular filters. Because this pond filter must be installed above the water level, it is also very suitable for creating a stream.
Pressure filter
Another pond filter available in our webshop is the pressure filter . This filter is particularly suitable for small garden ponds and ideal for ponds with plants and goldfish. A pressure filter can be installed either above or below the water level. A UVC lamp kills algae and harmful bacteria. Coarse plant debris and smaller dust particles are filtered from the water by the filter mats. This pond filter system takes up little space and is easy to clean.
Multi-chamber filter
Multi-chamber filters are ideal for large ponds with many fish and few plants. This filter system is therefore often used for koi ponds. This filter contains multiple chambers through which the water flows. Each chamber has its own specialization, such as a coarse dirt filter or a biological filter. These pond filters can be installed either above or at the same level as the water level.
Pre-filter
A pre-filter removes coarse dirt particles from the pond water before it reaches the main filter. This allows the main filter to function more effectively and requires less cleaning. There are three types of pre-filters: the vortex filter, the sieve bend filter, and the drum filter. The sieve bend filter, or ultrasonic pre-filter, is among those in our range. This type is more compact and significantly reduces the load on the main filter.
Drum filter
A drum filter is a pond filter with a fully automatic cleaning system. The drum filter performs the same function as a pre-filter, removing coarse dirt particles from the water before it flows to the main filter. However, this filter is somewhat more expensive to purchase and more suitable for koi ponds, swimming ponds, or other large ponds.
Module filter
A modular pond filter system is ideal for large ponds and swimming ponds. You can choose a gravity-fed setup or place the modular filters after a pump and position it above the water level. By installing multiple modules one after the other, you can increase the filter capacity yourself. This is very convenient when the water is heavily polluted, for example. If you choose a modular filter in combination with a drum filter, you have a low-maintenance pond filter system.

Choosing a brand that also has spare parts available can be an important consideration when choosing a filter for your pond. How does a pond filter work
Filters can be pressurized or gravity-fed. Most small to medium-sized pond systems are set up using pressure filters. Like pump-fed systems, these can be installed above the water level, but they can also be buried and concealed. Gravity systems or gravity filters should be installed next to the pond (subsurface). The water can flow to the pond system through drains in the bottom or side. The pond pump is installed after the filter system to allow the water to flow back into the pond. Energy-efficient pumps can be purchased for this purpose, as there is little headroom to overcome. A pond filter usually contains a series of sponges for mechanical filtration and various biological media for converting pond toxins. The filtration component can consist of bio-balls, plastic parts, stones, and various other materials. The media used must have a robust surface to support healthy bacteria growth in the filter system. The water passes through these various systems and is filtered in this way.
How to clean a pond filter
To continue enjoying a clear and healthy pond, pond maintenance is essential. Cleaning your pond filter is also essential. With most pond filters, it's recommended to do this once a year. You can remove coarse dirt particles and plant debris, and this part of the filter is easily rinsed with clean water. The second chamber, containing the mats, forms the biological pond filter. Bacteria present in these mats break down fish waste. It's best to rinse these mats with pond water. This minimizes damage to the bacteria, minimizing disruption to the biological process.
Tips for buying a pond filter
Buying a pond filter system? When buying a pond filter, there are a few things to consider. The filter's capacity should be large enough for the entire pond. If your pond has a volume of 5,000 liters, buy a filter with a capacity of at least 5,000 liters. If there are fish in the pond, it will become contaminated more quickly, requiring a more powerful filter.
