The Velda Giant Biofill XL is a large filter that uses the flow-through principle and features removable cassettes. The water is first passed through the first cassette, which can accommodate a UV-C unit and aeration (Silenta 300), before flowing through three removable cassettes containing Japanese mats and biofilter balls. Thanks to the mechanical and biological action of the filter materials, the treatment against suspended algae and pathogens, and the ability to heat and oxygenate the water, the Giant Biofill XL is a sound investment for achieving healthy, crystal-clear pond water.
The Giant Biofill XL filter unit has a large capacity of approximately 210 liters and can be expanded by connecting multiple filters together using the included connectors. A drain is located in the center of the filter, making it easy to remove sludge and dirt.
Installing the filter is simple. Connect the filter to a wastewater or pond pump to circulate the pond water. Connect the pump outlet to the filter inlet using a filter hose and place the filter next to the pond. Submerge the pump and plug in the UV-C lamp and water supply. Read the instructions first!
All cassettes are removable, allowing for easy cleaning of the filter materials. The first cassette accommodates the UV-C Unit and the included Mineral Filterstart. The lid also includes a connection for an air pump. The second cassette is filled with bioballs that ensure effective dirt filtration and a significant growth capacity for microorganisms. The third cassette is equipped with a coarse Japanese mat that filters dirt particles from the water and, over time, develops into a home to billions of microorganisms. The fourth cassette is filled with a finer Japanese mat that removes even the tiniest dust particles from the water.
