In July and August, temperatures rise, and so does the pond water temperature. This results in a lively fish life, and the plants grow vigorously. While this is wonderful, it also requires extra maintenance. In this article, we'll focus on the oxygen level in your pond.
Pond plants grow rapidly in the summer, which can lead to an oxygen deficiency in the pond. This oxygen deficiency is most common in the morning, as no oxygen is produced in the pond at night. However, the plants do absorb oxygen, causing the deficiency. During the day, the pond plants produce sufficient oxygen thanks to sunlight.
It's not just pond plants that cause oxygen deficiency. Rising water temperatures also contribute to this. The warmer the water, the less oxygen it contains. In summer, water temperatures can reach as high as 20 degrees Celsius, significantly reducing the oxygen content.
An air pump, waterfall, pond pump A fountain and/or a pond will create more movement in the pond water. More water movement means more oxygen in the pond, which is essential for the fish. Your fish will be much more active thanks to good oxygen levels.
